About James Sijpheer

James is excited to be joining the Nanaimo Christian School community for the 2013-14 school year and seeing the story of God’s faithfulness continuing to unfold. Born and raised in Edmonton, Alberta, James completed his Bachelor of Education through the King’s University College and the University of Alberta, and continues to support the Edmonton Oilers hockey team. After two years teaching in the middle school at Taber Christian School, James and his family moved to Victoria, BC in 2001 to join the staff at Pacific Christian School as the Special Education Coordinator. In 2006, James accepted a Vice-Principal position at Trinity Christian School in Calgary, AB and in 2012, he and his family moved to the Dominican Republic, to teach, lead and serve as the Middle School Principal of Santiago Christian School. Having recently completed a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership through the University of Calgary, James is eager to continue the journey of academic excellence at NCS through strengthening the current programs within a 21st century context. James brings a passion for Christian Education to NCS, along with a love for learning and a desire to use excellence in education as a tool to strengthen relationships with Jesus. When James is not fulfilling his calling at NCS, he can be found spending time with his family (Michelle, Ben and Matthew) and two dogs, exploring a beach with a crab trap in one hand and fishing rod in the other.
