Join us in welcoming Mike Suderman as the first Superintendent for Nanaimo Christian School! He officially starts in his new role at NCS in August. The Board began its search for a new leader soon after James Sijpheer was appointed Superintendent of Richmond Christian School in mid December 2021.

Through various stakeholder meetings and consultations both within and outside our school community, it became clear that Nanaimo Christian School was at a size where we no longer needed to look for a Head Principal but a Superintendent for the next phase of growth for our school.

Mike brings phenomenal experience in educational leadership. He has spent over 34 years as an administrator and teacher in Edmonton Public Schools in a variety of settings: K-9, K-12 as well as Junior High and High School. These roles have taken place in a public school setting, in Christian programs within a public school setting (the Logos program), as well as in Society-led Christian schools (similar to NCS) in partnership with Edmonton Public Schools.

Most recently Mike served as Associate Superintendent of Schools to 213 K-12 schools, which accounts for 107,000 students, 10,000 staff and 210 principals. In that role he specifically provided leadership to 54 principals and the 14 Christian program schools within the district.

Mike is known not only as a broad spectrum educator with tremendous experience and wisdom but also a man with an unshakable Christian faith that is the bedrock of everything he does. He believes that the purpose of Christian Education is to help students know God and His love for them and to prepare their hands, minds and hearts for a life of service to others and to God.
