NCS Senior volleyball programs continued to show their strength over the past few weeks
NCS just wrapped up the senior volleyball island championships and both the girls and the boys walked away with gold medals. In keeping with their strong performances all year NCS were able to solidify their spots at the Provincial Championships after entering the Islands in first place and defending this throughout the playoffs.
The girls championships were a 12 team tournament which saw NCS beat Duncan Christian, Lake Cowichan and Cedar all in 2 sets. The playoffs had NCS beat Brodeur in 2 sets, Cedar again in 2 sets and finally met DCS again in the finals for a 2-0 set victory. Mesha Loots was named a 1st team all-star while Olivia Phillips was named tournament MVP. The girls will be headed to the Provincial Championships Dec 8-11 in Castlegar along with Duncan Christian who also qualified.
The boys championships were a 5 team tournament in which all teams played each other once. NCS was able to come out ahead with 2-0 set victories against Duncan Christian, Brookes, and St. Andrews and a 2-1 victory over Brodeur. Cole Libbus was named 2nd team all-star, Isaac Watt was named 1st team all-star and Austin Wilson was named tournament MVP. The boys will be hosting to the Provincial Championships Dec 8-11 at NCS along with St. Andrews (who ended second) and Brodeur who took a wildcard berth.
