4 Reasons to Love Teaching at NCS
1. Student-centered approach to learning
At NCS, we don’t just say we believe that God has made all kids unique. We live that out! We don’t offer a one-size-fits-all education. Instead, we provide cross-graded, cross-curricular, multi-age learning experiences that challenge and engage students where they are and acknowledge who God has created them to be.
2. Collaborative teaching teams
Life is more fun together, and so is teaching. Each week teachers have three hours of collaborative planning time with their teams. They plan, create, discuss, modify, adapt and laugh together. When the workload is shared between teachers, students don’t fall through the cracks, and it creates a shared responsibility for all students.
3. A commitment to professional development
We can’t teach learners if we aren’t learners ourselves. We aren’t status quo people. We love seeking out new ideas and best practices and trying them out. We want to learn, try new things, take risks and be innovative. We’re committed to hosting and sending our staff for great Pro D.
4. Nanaimo is a great place to live
Nanaimo is one of only a few places in Canada where you have easy access to mountains, rivers, lakes and oceans … without 4 months of snow! It is truly beautiful here with so many places to explore. When you want a big-city day trip, Victoria and Vancouver are close by.
