Introducing a new elementary school teacher at NCS
Meet Ms. Heidi Mallard, a new elementary school teacher at Nanaimo Christian School! Here are 7 things you need to know about her.
1. What’s your job title at NCS?
Elementary Teacher - Gr. 1/2
2. Tell us a bit about your work before coming to NCS.
I’ve taught in Chetwynd for five years and three years on the island. I have taught from kindergarten to grade 8 and really enjoyed working with the younger ones!
3. What do you love most about the type of work you do?
I love to teach kids about Jesus and the Gospel. It’s an honour to be a part of their learning journeys and getting to know their wonderful, unique selves.
4. If you were an animal, what animal would you be? Why?
I would be a parrot because you can fly, eat tropical fruit and live for a pretty long time!
5. What’s your secret talent or party trick?
I can light a match with my tooth.
6. What are your hobbies?
I love to draw, read and be outside with my son! It is my hope to show my previous joys of backpacking, snowboarding and mountain biking with him.
7. What’s one thing God has been teaching you this year?
There are a ton of things I’m learning but one that I needed to be reminded of is that God chose me, He loves me and I am His. He saved me and is teaching me that my gaze needs to be focused on Jesus and doing all things for His glory.
