7 Things About Miss Josefin Johansson

Updated: Jan 12, 2022

Meet a new Grade 5 teacher at NCS.

Over the next few weeks we'll be introducing new staff members joining our team at Nanaimo Christian School. Help us give them a warm welcome!

Meet Miss Josefin Johansson! Here are 7 things you need to know about her.

1) New position at NCS

Grade 5 teacher

2) Before coming to NCS

I actually began my teaching career here at NCS 15 years ago. I taught English/Theatre in High School alongside Paul Henderson and Brian DeSchiffart. For the last 8 years I have been teaching in Alberta. I spent 3 years at Master's Academy and College in Calgary, teaching grades 4/5 and then another 3 years in Okotoks with Foothills Public School Division teaching grade 1/3/7. I also worked for Alberta Distance Learning as an English marker.

3) Favorite thing about teaching

Connection. I thrive on relationships and connection with everyone in my life. I love creating unique bonds with my students and watching them grow and develop. I have enjoyed continuing those friendships beyond the school years, as I have watched many of my former students get married and have children of their own.

4) If I were a crayon ...

I would be teal because it is my favourite colour. It is bright, happy and goes with almost everything!

5) Secret talent or party trick

I can shop like nobody's business! Some say I was born to be a personal shopper...maybe my new side job?!

6) Hobbies

I have recently found a new love for running. I would like to set some big running goals for myself over this next year. I like to read and you can usually find me in the summer with my nose in a good book, or 6!! I love spending time at the beach now that I am close to it again.

7) God has been teaching me ...

Where do I begin? I could write a paper on the many things that God has taught me over the years, however, if I had to choose one thing that has resonated the most with me over these last 7 months it would be best described in this verse from the song "Graves into Gardens" by Elevation Worship:

"I searched the world, but it couldn't fill me, and treasures that fade, are never enough. Then You came along, and put me back together, and every desire is now satisfied, here in Your love."

He is turning my grave into a garden and I am thankful.
