Nanaimo Christian School students to take a 26-day challenge: walking to the tip of South America and raising $50,000 for the school's long-term tuition assistance fund.

Get ready, Nanaimo Christian School – we’re about to embark on an epic adventure! Starting April 27, our students will lace up their walking shoes for the Trailblazer Trek, a 26-day challenge where we’ll journey to the tip of South America … virtually, of course!
Our mission: walk enough kilometers collectively throughout the month of May to Cape Horn, Chile (23,000 km), all while raising funds for the school's long-term tuition assistance fund.
Here’s the challenge: We challenge each student to walk 33 kilometers (or more!) and raise $75 to support the NCS long-term tuition assistance fund, making Christian education possible for more families. But wait – we’re not stopping there! Every Friday, homerooms will tally their total kilometers to see just how far we’ve come, and how much closer we are to that sweet Cape Horn goal.
Prizes? You bet! Every week in May we'll hand out a prize to one lucky classroom that either walks the farthest, raises the most money, or shares the most inspirational student Trek story. Did someone say donuts? Ice cream? There will also be the Golden Shoe Award at the end of our Trek to honour one far-trekking student who has inspired others. Let’s make it competitive — and fun!
How can you help? Get outside! Students will walk during school with their classes and with their big/little buddies. We want families to take part in the fun, too. Watch for more info coming soon on organized NCS family weekend walks. Grab your walking shoes and enjoy the great outdoors with us. It's a fantastic chance to explore God’s creation and bond with others in the NCS community.
But that’s not all: On Friday, May 22, we’ll wrap up the challenge with a fun-filled Field Day during school to celebrate all of our incredible achievements. Later that afternoon (from 12-1 pm), we’ll host a Closing Barbecue Family Celebration — because what’s a celebration without awards and some celebratory burgers!
The big goal? We’re aiming to raise $50,000 for our long-term Tuition Assistance Fund. This fund will open doors for families who might otherwise not be able to afford Christian education at NCS. Read more.
So, mark your calendars for April 27 ... and start stretching those legs. The Trailblazer Trek is coming – and we need YOU to make it an amazing success!
COMING SOON … Stay tuned for the link to the Trailblazer Trek website where you can see the leaderboard, follow our progress toward South America, and donate during this fun classroom competition.
