In his weekly video for students, Mr. Sijpheer reminds us that hope sometimes comes from looking behind us instead of looking ahead. When we remember stories of God's goodness in the past -- situations when He delivered us or acted on our behalf -- we become more confident that He will do the same in the future.
The Bible is full of stories of God's faithfulness to His people. David recounts several stories in the Psalms when God rescued him and provided for him. In Psalm 27 David speaks confidently of the hope he has as a result of seeing the pattern of God's goodness in his life in the past.
"The Lord is my light and my salvation -- whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life -- of whom shall I be afraid?" Psalm 27:1
