NCS purchases adjacent property & prepares for future expansion plans

Updated: Nov 2, 2022

The L-shaped 4.1-acre property is an open field with a treed perimeter and accessed from Holland Road across from the school parking lot.

In a recent $1 million private sale, Nanaimo Christian School purchased the adjacent property at 2308 Jingle Pot Road from a retired teacher named Ann. For years, neighbours have called the property "Ann's Field." The L-shaped 4.1-acre property is an open field with a treed perimeter that can be accessed from Holland Road across from the main school parking lot. Nanaimo Christian School parents were able to tour the property at an open house on June 8 and 9 at 1:00-3:00pm.

“The land purchase is an answer to six years of prayer that began when we first met the former land owner,” says Mr. James Sijpheer, head principal of Nanaimo Christian School. “This beautiful new property provides us with the opportunity to expand on our current site, a luxury not shared by many other Christian schools on the mainland, so we’re keenly aware of the value. A strategic planning process with the school board and other key stakeholders will determine how the school will use the land.”

Enrolment at Nanaimo Christian School has nearly doubled over the past seven years, and the school is at capacity with 670 students this school year and 725 enrolled for September. Many grades have waitlists, and families seeking an education with Christian values are being turned away. Discussions are already underway on how to create more spaces for students at Nanaimo Christian School.

Nanaimo Christian School would like to thank the former land owner for her generosity in making this opportunity possible. Dan Morris, a Nanaimo Christian School parent and Royal LePage Realtor who acted on the school’s behalf pro bono to negotiate the sale, stated “We’re grateful for her generous spirit, her heart for education, and investment in raising up the next generation.”

Update: In August 2022 the NCS board of directors met and started off by praying for the upcoming school year in Ann's Field (pictured below).
