Meet Mrs. Melissa Friend! Here are 7 things you need to know about her.

2) Before coming to NCS
Our family moved to the island last summer from Whistler, BC. I was a Kindergarten teacher there for about 25 years. Last year I taught in Parksville.
3) Favorite thing about teaching
I love teaching Kindergarten. Seeing the world through the eyes of young children is so beautiful. I love a child's sense of wonder, imagination and discovery. I love to watch my students grow and develop through play and exploration.
4) If I were a crayon ...
I would be pink! Pink is light-hearted and fun. It is happy and sweet. Pink represents kindness and gentleness. It is feminine.
5) Secret talent or party trick
I can play the bagpipes! Not well … but I can play them. They were fantastic for waking up my older brother in the morning! (They are now safely stored away in a case in my parents’ home.)
6) Hobbies
I enjoy spending time with my family both here on the island and in the interior. I also enjoy decorating and helping my husband with our home renovations.
7) God has been teaching me
God has been teaching me to trust in Him always. He is my rock!
