Senior girls' volleyball finishes 4th at provincial coastal tournament

Road closures and travel restrictions changed the provincial tournament format, but NCS girls finished strong.

Due to severe November flooding in B.C. and province-wide travel restrictions, the 2021 high school senior girls' volleyball provincial tournament was broken into two championships -- coastal and interior.

NCS girls went into the Coastal Championship as a top seed after winning first place at the Vancouver Island Championships and being ranked second in the province most of the season.

They travelled to North Vancouver for the tournament and came out strong out strong on the first day of competition. They fell behind two matches to none and were in a do-or-die situation versus Southpointe Academy. The NCS Trail Blazers won the match 16-25, 25-19, 15-5, earning a spot in the semi-finals. The girls unfortunately lost a tough match 19-25, 21-25 to Credo who would go on to win the Coastal Championship Tournament. NCS finished the tournament in 4th place.

Lindy Hobbs, Sarah Landry and Mesha Loots were all recognized with player of the game awards while Olivia Phillips and Naomi Vivian were selected as all-stars and Natalie Faganello took home a top libero award.
